Chicago Cubs Minor League Wrap: June 6 (2024)

In case you haven’t heard, infielder Nick Madrigal went on the 7-day injured list with a broken left hand after getting hit by a pitch yesterday. It’s a safe bet that he’ll miss more than seven games.

Iowa activated right-handers Eduarniel Nunez and Zac Leigh. Both had been on the Development List.

Catcher Caleb Knight was activated off the Development List and demoted to Double-A Tennessee.

Smokies outfielder Bradlee Beesley retired. We wish him the best going forward with whatever he does.

Iowa Cubs

The Iowa Cubs laid an egg against the Toledo Mud Hens (Tigers), 8-4.

Starter Riley Thompson gave up just one run on one hit over three innings. Thompson walked two and struck out two

Brad Wieck got his first loss of the year in relief after he was knocked around for four runs, three earned, over just two-thirds of an inning. Wieck gave up four hits, including a two-run home run to Justice Bigbie. Wieck did not walk or strike anyone out.

Left fielder Darius Hill was 2 for 4. Hill had a two-run single in the fourth inning and scored later that inning on a throwing error.
